Adult leaders of scout troops, youth groups, and childrens camps often are in need of an easy
to do craft or activity idea to keep kids occupied. Good craft ideas for kids can sometimes be a
challenge. A wood bird feeder or bird house kit may be the answer to this need.
The instructions below are intended to show the adult director of kids activities just how
easy and fun one of these wood craft project kits can be. These kits are fun for just about
any kind of youth activity - cub scouts, summer camp project, or church groups.
Here are the instructions for building the Woodkrafter Small Wood Bird Feeder Kit
(Product Number 173107).
The kit includes all precut wood parts, nails, and eye hooks. You will need a small hammer to
build the kit.

1. Nail feeder box sides together, driving the nails through the long sides into shorter
sides. Use four nails as shown on the drawing.

|
2. Center bottom panel over feeder box and nail in place, using six nails as shown
|
|
3. Turn the feeder box over, position the roof support in the center of the box, pointed side
up. Drive nails through box sides into the roof support - use two nails on each side.
|
|
4. Nail the two roof panels to the roof support.
|
|
5. Nail the top panel on to the roof. Screw eye hooks into the top panel 1 ¼ inch from each
end.

|
6. You may now paint the feeder if desired.

As you can see, the kits are simple to assemble and will give the kids a great little wood
project to take home and use. And they will learn about nature as they watch and learn to
identify the birds which use the finished feeder or bird house.
