The Solar Bag
Fill the 50 foot long bag with air and the sun heats it and it rises using solar power, a neat toy hot air balloon project.
Solar power heats the air in this bag causing it to act like a hot air balloon and rise into the air with exposure to the warm rays of the sun. A demonstration of solar heating power the solar bag is fun for people of all ages to operate.
Very simple to use - simply fill it with air on a sunny day and allow the suns rays to heat the air in the solar balloon and it will rise like a big black hot air balloon. Caution - the solar bag is constructed of VERY LIGHT plastic material and so is very fragile. Best results will be obtained if the solar bag is flown early in the morning when the wind is light or non-existant. The bag fully inflated is 50 feet long, so it creates quite a sensation when it is flying. This is a great project for a class of kids as it demonstrates not only the power of the sun, but also the concept that warm air is lighter than cooler air, causing it to rise.
Make sure that a string is tied to the sun balloon before launching so it doesn't get away!
