4 Season Sunroom - A Sunspace For Your Home![]() Four season sunrooms are double glazed, usually with glass, and have metal or wood framing around the windows. A 4 season sun porch of this type can be used any time, day or night, winter or summer since they use the homes climate control. Some disadvantages of a 4 season sunroom would be that the area would be an overall energy drain on the home. It would help heat the home on sunny winter days, but would take valuable energy to heat on cloudy days and cold winter nights because of the extensive glazed areas exposed to the cold air. To help alleviate this, shades or blinds may be installed which may be closed at night to insulate the glazed areas and help keep heat in. The blinds can be Roman shades, mini-blinds, or any other type] which could easily be opened and closed. Another disadvantage is the fact that, because it is air conditioned, it would not be opened on summer evenings to allow the sounds of summer to be enjoyed by occupants of the sunroom. Depending up the location of the home, this could be an advantage. City dwellers may not enjoy street sounds in the summer, but rural folk usually do enjoy the sounds of a summer evening. Four season sunrooms are usually much more expensive than 3 season sun porches because of better glazing materials and custom building techniques. But they do add a valuable element to the home as they provide cheery living space to your home. A four season sunroom is a wonderful additon to the home. It is a bright place to enjoy lunch on a cold winter day. Watching the sun come up while having a cup of coffee in the sunroom is a relaxing way to begin the day. At night the sun room becomes a moon room, allowing you to unwind after the frenzied day's activities. |
