Sun Room Kit - Build It Yourself Sun Porch

A kit can be an affordable way to add a sun room to your home. Since the parts are all made to standard sizes, the manufacturing costs are reduced. This adds up to significant materials savings to the customer.

Sun room kits are generally geared to the do it yourselfer, so they are usually fairly easy to assemble for the moderately skilled home ownner. Assembly is usually fairly quick, one person usually able to construct a sun porch in a couple of days or so, depending upon the amount of time you can afford to devote to the project. This can add savings on labor costs in the construction of the sun space.

Some disadvantages to a kit would include the fact that since the frames and glazing are all standard sized, some modifications to the dwelling may need to be done to accomadate the opening to the kit. Most of the sunroom kits are somewhat flexible, and the modifications usually are not great, so this may not be a serious impediment to the use of a kit.

Most of the sunroom kits now on the market, though attractive, are somewhat boxy looking. But the ease and economy of construction will more than make up for these deficiencies for some home owners.

Before deciding on a sunroom kit, you must review your needs and skills. Though fairly easy to construct, they still require some modest do it yourself skills. But if the style suits you, and you have the time and inclination to build one, a sun room kit may be right for you.
